The Awesome Phone Innovations Revealed at IFA 2023

Phones Canada team had the opportunity to attend IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin), one of the biggest tech events of the year. While smartphones weren’t as predominant as in other events, such as MWC (Mobile World Congress), there were still some major players and exciting accessories to explore.

Here are some of the highlights from the event:

Belkin introduced their first-ever Qi2 wireless chargers. These chargers offer faster charging speeds and we can expect to see more magnetic chargers in the future.

Solum Ear X showcased fitness-tracking earbuds that not only monitor your heart rate and temperature but also alert you if you have a wrong posture while exercising.

Sangean speakers presented classic-looking speakers with FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity, offering a stylish addition to any living room.

UB+ speakers showcased spherical speakers of bass and destruction that come with their own tripods. These speakers not only provide great sound quality but also make a statement.

Pitaka showcased their aramid and carbon fiber weave cases that now come in fun colors with a unique flair, providing both style and protection for your phone.

Samsung’s floor was a hub of innovation, focusing on sustainability, smart home technology, and AI-optimized energy-saving appliances. They also highlighted their latest foldable phones, showcasing the intricate “conveyor belt” construction process.

Honor caught our attention with the Honor Magic V2. This phone packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a vapor chamber, and a 5,000 mAh battery, all in an incredibly thin body.

Motorola introduced the ThinkPhone, which streams a Windows 11 platform directly to your phone. This unique service gives you access to your own Windows 11 machine, offering a different approach to mobile desktop solutions.

Fairphone showcased their Fairphone 5, which focuses on sustainability and repairability. The company aims for a 10-year software update cycle, providing a long-lasting device. They also introduced the Fairbuds XL, wireless over-ear headphones with easily replaceable parts and batteries.

Withings introduced the ScanWatch 2 and ScanWatch Light, hybrid smartwatches with advanced health-tracking features. These watches offer a plethora of sensors and precise activity tracking capabilities.

Urbanista introduced the Malibu wireless speaker, which utilizes thin, non-toxic, flexible plastic solar cells to extend battery life and improve efficiency. The speaker offers great sound quality and the ability to pair multiple speakers for more volume.

Soundcore presented the Motion X600, a portable high-fidelity speaker with 5 drivers and separate amplifiers. This speaker provides spatial audio in all directions, making it perfect for parties and gatherings.
