There’s still hope despite the disappointing rumor about iPhone 15 Pro Max battery capacity. Find out why!

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have been the subject of much anticipation, especially when it comes to their battery capacity. Initial rumors suggested significant increases in battery size compared to their predecessors, sparking excitement among consumers.

However, a recent tweet from tipster Majin Bu has cast doubt on these rumors. According to Bu, the actual battery capacity for the iPhone 15 Pro Max will only be 4422mAh, representing a meager 2.3% increase over the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 4323mAh battery.

It’s worth noting that the alleged Foxconn employee had previously claimed a much larger 12% increase, stating that the iPhone 15 Pro Max would feature a 4852mAh battery. This conflicting information has disappointed those who were hoping for a substantial upgrade in battery capacity.

One possible explanation for the smaller increase in battery size is the introduction of a periscope lens in the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This advanced camera feature requires additional space within the device, potentially limiting the available room for a larger battery. The periscope lens enhances optical zoom capabilities, allowing the upcoming model to achieve 6x optical zoom compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 3x zoom.

Despite the underwhelming battery capacity increase, there is still reason to expect improved battery life on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Majin Bu suggests that the device’s A17 Bionic chipset, manufactured using a 3nm process node, will contribute to increased energy efficiency. A smaller process node allows for more transistors to be packed into the chipset, resulting in better performance and power efficiency. For instance, the A15 Bionic used in the iPhone 13 lineup featured 15 billion transistors, a 27.1% increase over the A14 Bionic’s transistor count.

It is expected that the A17 Bionic chipset, being the only smartphone application processor manufactured using a 3nm process node this year, may boast an even higher transistor count of 18 billion to 20 billion.

While the smaller than anticipated battery capacity increase may disappoint some users, the combination of the periscope lens and the A17 Bionic chipset holds the promise of improved camera capabilities and enhanced energy efficiency in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
