Upgrade Your Phone Experience with Rogers’ eSIM Conversion on iPhone in iOS 18 • Phones Canada News

Rogers now supports Apple’s ‘Convert to eSIM’ feature directly from your iPhone, making it easier than ever to switch to an eSIM. This change was spotted in the latest iOS 18 beta 4 by a keen-eyed iPhone in Canada reader named Ahsan. Here’s how you can make the switch:

– Go to Settings > Cellular on your iPhone.
– Look for the new option ‘Convert to eSIM’.
– Tap on ‘Convert to eSIM’, then select ‘Convert Cellular Plan’ and follow the prompts to activate your eSIM.
– Your previous SIM card will be deactivated during this process.
– Once activated, remove the physical SIM card and restart your iPhone.

This feature allows you to free up your physical SIM card slot, which can be incredibly useful when traveling outside of Canada and wanting to use a local SIM card. While Rogers and Fido already allowed customers to switch from physical SIM cards to eSIM online last fall, they did not support eSIM Carrier Activation like some other carriers.

In March 2023, Telus added support for Convert to eSIM, followed by Bell in July. Now, Rogers has joined the ranks of its competitors by offering Convert to eSIM with the release of iOS 18. If you don’t see the option on your device, it means your carrier does not yet support eSIM conversion.

Stay tuned for more updates as carriers continue to enhance their support for eSIM technology. Make sure to check out Phones Canada for all the latest news and updates in telecommunications!
