Verizon customers may soon see an increase in the Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge. This comes after Verizon agreed to a $100 million settlement over a related lawsuit. Although Verizon does not admit any wrongdoing, the company has sent notifications to customers stating that it will continue to charge the Administrative Charge and may even raise it. Customers who received postpaid wireless or data services from Verizon between January 1, 2016, and November 8, 2023, are eligible to file a claim and must do so by April 15th.
The lawsuit claims that Verizon did not adequately or honestly disclose the Administrative Charge to customers and used it to unlawfully charge more for wireless services without properly informing customers. The lawsuit didn’t demand that Verizon stop charging these fees but did require the company to honestly and adequately disclose the charge to customers and suggested reimbursing them for any undisclosed extra-contractual fees.
If you believe you are entitled to a share of the settlement money, you can visit the Settlement website and file a claim.
