OnePlus Announces Plans for a Foldable Phone in 2023

At MWC’23, OnePlus made a major announcement that it will release a foldable phone later this year. This move will make OnePlus the first serious competitor to Samsung’s foldable phones in the US, which have dominated the foldable market.

The upcoming OnePlus foldable phone could upset the established status-quo and give consumers more options in the foldable phone market. OnePlus COO and President Kinder Liu revealed that the company is committed to delivering a flagship device with the signature fast and smooth OnePlus experience.

Although not much is known about the upcoming foldable phone, rumors suggest that OnePlus could borrow hardware from its sister company, Oppo. The Oppo Find N2 has been mentioned as the most likely donor for OnePlus’ foldable endeavor. However, certain patent-related hurdles must be overcome before the release of the device in the US.

The Oppo Find N2 was released in China in December and boasts a large 7.1-inch internal display, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. We can expect hardware improvements for the OnePlus foldable phone, most notably the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that could significantly enhance performance and efficiency.

Stay tuned for more updates from OnePlus as it aims to deliver a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.
