Rumors and leaks about the Pixel Watch 2 have been circulating, and the latest one adds more fuel to the fire.
According to tipster Kamila Wojciechowska, who is known for leaking Pixel information, the Pixel Watch 2 will feature an automatic workout tracking feature. This means that the watch will be able to automatically detect when you start and stop your workout, as well as give you the option to initiate tracking with a button or dismiss it if you’re not interested.
This may seem like a small addition, but it’s a practical one. Unlike its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 2 will catch up with other health-focused smartwatches and trackers that already have automatic workout tracking capabilities. If the leaks are accurate, the Pixel Watch 2 will be able to track details such as pace, heart rate, and laps.
One of the significant improvements is the watch’s ability to recognize when you start and stop working out, pausing the tracking accordingly. For example, if you’re cycling and decide to take a stroll, the watch should automatically pause the workout.
In contrast, the previous Pixel Watch lacked this automatic tracking feature. While the Fitbit app could detect basic workouts like walks or runs, the watch itself couldn’t autonomously start, pause, or stop a workout. So this is definitely a step up.
The Pixel Watch 2 is expected to run on the Wear OS, likely Wear OS 4, and will likely maintain Fitbit integration due to Google’s ownership of the company. In terms of fitness features, the watch could include standard health tracking elements like a heart rate sensor, ECG, blood oxygen tracker, detailed sleep tracking, and step-by-step navigation.
Furthermore, there are rumors that the Pixel Watch 2 may incorporate Google’s once-per-second heart rate tracking and possibly include a temperature sensor. These features align with trends seen in competitors like the Apple Watch Series 9 and Galaxy Watch 6.
