New data reveals X (previously known as Twitter) experienced a decline of 600 million visitors in September

X, formerly known as Twitter, has faced criticism from users and governments, and now new data reveals a significant decline in its visitor count. According to SimilarWeb, a company that tracks website visits, X experienced a drop from 6.4 billion visitors in August to 5.8 billion visitors in September. Although this may not seem like a massive loss, it still amounts to a nearly 10% decrease, which is quite significant.

Interestingly, of the 176 countries that visited X in September, a whopping 83% of them witnessed a decline in traffic. Moreover, Google Trends data indicates that searches for Twitter have been consistently dropping ever since Elon Musk took over. This downturn in popularity raises questions about the platform’s future and whether it will be able to attract new visitors or face further declines.

In a recent development, X announced a pilot program in New Zealand and the Philippines, where new users will be required to pay $1 per year in order to post on the platform. This move has sparked curiosity about the potential impact on X’s user base.

With X’s decline in visitors and various challenges the platform is facing, it remains to be seen how the company will navigate these issues in the future. Only time will tell if X can regain its momentum and reestablish itself as a leading social media platform.
