Reportedly, the Exynos 2500 AP of the Galaxy S25 is expected to retain its deca-core structure.

It appears that Samsung will be utilizing its own Exynos 2400 chipset for certain models in the Galaxy S24 series. This strategy is reminiscent of Apple’s approach, which involved reserving the latest and most advanced application processor (AP) for the Pro models, while the non-Pro models received the previous year’s SoC.

The Exynos 2400 chipset could potentially pose a significant challenge to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy devices. It boasts a deca-core configuration, comprising a Cortex-X4 prime CPU core clocked at 3.19GHz, five Cortex-A720 performance CPU cores (two running at 2.9GHz and three at 2.6GHz), and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores with a clock speed of 1.95GHz. The Samsung XClipse 940 serves as the CPU, while the integrated modem is the Exynos 5300, supporting up to 10Gbps downlink speed.

Regarding the rumored Exynos 2500, some new information has emerged from @OreXda on Twitter, as reported by notebookcheck.net. Like the Exynos 2400, the Exynos 2500 is expected to be a deca-core chip. However, its configuration is said to consist of three performance cores and two slower performance cores, deviating from the Exynos 2400’s two performance cores and three slower ones.

According to initial rumors, the Exynos 2500 is said to feature one Cortex-X5 prime CPU core, three Cortex-A730 performance cores, two Cortex-A730 performance cores operating at a slower speed, and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores. Initially, there were speculations about the Exynos 2500 utilizing four prime cores, but concerns about potential heating issues, observed in MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 chip, which lacks efficiency cores, prompted Samsung to reconsider. It seems Samsung was cautious about taking such a risk with the Exynos 2500 SoC.

Furthermore, it is expected that the Exynos 2500 chipset will be manufactured using Samsung Foundry’s 3nm 3GAP process node. This chip could potentially be implemented in the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ models set to be released in 2025.
