Executive summary
Sustainability and responsible business practice sit at the front of how we operate. This report sets out what we achieved and where we are heading, focused on energy efficiency, water conservation and e-waste reduction.
Energy efficiency
Business growth brought a three-fold increase in energy consumption, so reducing our footprint per unit shipped became the priority. Our cable manufacturing facility runs entirely on solar power. Our offices use energy-saving lighting and power-saving settings across equipment. We encourage remote work to cut commuting emissions.
Water conservation
Expansion pushed water consumption up by 50%, and we are working to reverse that. Manufacturing processes have been optimised around lower-water technologies, our facilities use drought-tolerant landscaping that needs minimal watering, and we run employee education on conserving water at work and at home.
E-waste reduction
Shifting from device replacement to repair cut our electronic waste by 50% over the year. Refining that process further, so fewer devices are written off as unrepairable, remains a standing goal.
Community involvement
For every device we sell we plant a tree, and we adopt gorillas to support wildlife conservation. We also donate phones to people who need them, including homeless youth, working with organisations such as Idara al-Khair in Pakistan.
Future goals
We are working towards ISO 14001 and RIOS certification to underline our commitment to responsible recycling and sustainable business practice, while continuing to reduce energy use, water use and waste, and expanding sustainability education across the team.
