Phones Canada Presents: Drop Test Results for iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra
We understand the concern of smartphone users when it comes to the durability of their devices. That’s why we bring you the latest drop test results for two of the latest flagship phones on the market: the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Starting with the first drop, both phones were subjected to a fall from a height of 1 meter onto a concrete block. Unfortunately, the glass back panel of the iPhone 15 Pro Max shattered upon impact. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, suffered cracks limited to the lower left and upper right corners. Scuff marks around the camera lenses were present on both devices, but they were easily removed with a simple cleaning.
Moving on to the corner drop test, the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s corners seemed to handle the impact well, with minimal damage, if any. The squared-off corners of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, however, experienced some chipping. It’s worth noting that the ongoing drops started exacerbating the initial damage on the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s rear panel, leading to a small missing piece of glass. Nevertheless, both phones remained functional.
In the next test, both phones took a face-first dive into concrete from a height of 1 meter. Unfortunately, this resulted in shattered screens for both devices. Despite the cracks, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S23 Ultra continued to work perfectly, including their respective biometric features: Face ID for the iPhone and the under-display fingerprint scanner for the Galaxy.
The final test involved a face-first fall onto a steel block from a height of 1.45 meters. Surprisingly, both phones still functioned perfectly after this intense impact. However, the rear glass of the iPhone, even though it wasn’t the area of impact, continued to fall apart.
Based on these results, PhoneBluff slightly favored the Galaxy S23 Ultra over the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This highlights the importance of protecting your expensive handsets with a case. We understand that putting a case on your phone may not be your first choice, as you want to showcase its natural beauty. But consider the consequences of a cracked display and a dented frame – is it worth sacrificing the overall aesthetics?
In conclusion, while it’s disappointing to see these flagship phones succumb to damage, it’s clear that accidents can happen to anyone. To ensure your devices stay in optimal condition and maintain their visual appeal, we recommend considering a protective case. Trust us, it’s a small concession to keep your phone running smoothly and looking good.
