The ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro are set to be officially unveiled on January 16. Initially, they will be available in China, but Asus is expected to launch both models in other countries shortly after.
If you’re a fan of the series and already own a previous ROG Phone model, there are plenty of reasons to consider an upgrade. The upcoming ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro boast improved specs compared to models launched 2-3 years ago, as well as a redesigned, non-glossy design. This is a welcome change from the previous ROG Phone 5, which was both massive and slippery due to its glossy back.
Rumored specs for the ROG Phone 8 Pro include a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support. Inside, it’s expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up to 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of internal memory.
In terms of the camera, the ROG Phone 8 Pro is rumored to feature a 50-megapixel main camera using Sony’s IMX890 sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a third 32-megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom.
Both the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro are reportedly IP68-certified, and will be powered by 5,500 mAh batteries with 65W fast charging support. They will also run on Android 14 right out of the box.
Stay tuned for the official unveiling of the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro on January 16!
