A recent report has shown that Apple is facing challenges with iPhone 15 sales in China, with a significant drop of 30% in the first week of 2024.
Despite offering discounted prices on multiple iPhone models at major Chinese marketplaces, including a 16% price cut on the Pinduoduo platform, the sales saw a significant decline, indicating growing competitive pressures from domestic rivals such as Huawei.
The 30% drop in sales represents a sharp acceleration from the 3% year-over-year decline experienced by Apple in 2023, leading to a decrease in the company’s market share in China.
This decline has been attributed to the success of Huawei’s Mate 60 series, particularly the Mate 60 Pro, which has seen a rise in market share in the Chinese smartphone market. As a result, analysts forecast a continued decline in Apple’s shipment volumes by double digits in 2024, while Huawei is expected to gain further market share.
