Apple is gearing up to launch a new version of the iPad Pro series next month, with the 11-inch and 13-inch models being the first to feature OLED displays. These new panels are thinner than the current ones, as shown in CAD drawings leaked on MacRumors.
The design of the upcoming iPads remains familiar, with the rear camera island in the upper left corner and speakers and a USB-C port at the bottom. Here are the rumored dimensions for the new models:
– Current 11-inch iPad Pro: 247.6mm x 178.5mm x 5.9 mm
– Upcoming 11-inch iPad Pro: 249.7mm x 177.5mm x 5.1mm
– Current 12.9-inch iPad Pro: 280.6mm x 214.9mm x 6.4mm
– Upcoming ~13-inch iPad Pro: 281.5mm x 215.5mm x 5.0mm
The noticeable difference is in thickness, with the new models being thinner due to the OLED panels requiring fewer layers than LCD panels used previously.
Both models will also receive an upgrade under the hood, moving from the Apple M2 chipset to the more powerful Apple M3 chipset built on a smaller 3nm process technology.
Other potential upgrades include support for MagSafe charging, a refreshed Magic Keyboard, and a new Apple Pencil to enhance user experience further.
The introduction of OLED displays promises more vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and improved HDR capabilities – making these iPads stand out with some of Apple’s largest OLED panels yet.
Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments in Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro lineup!
