Apple is set to launch its highly anticipated iPad Pro refresh in the coming months. The new 11-inch and 13-inch tablets are expected to feature OLED displays, a first for any iPad model. Initial rumors suggested a hefty price tag, with the 11-inch model priced at $1,500 and the 13-inch model at $1,800. However, recent reports indicate that price hikes for the new iPad Pro tablets will be limited to $160.
The current 11-inch iPad Pro (2022) starts at $799. With a possible $160 or 20% price increase, the tablet would be priced at $959 and up. The 12.9-inch model, currently priced at $1,099 and up, is expected to have a slightly larger 13-inch screen and carry a price tag of $1,259 and up after the $160 hike.
Apple’s decision to use OLED panels in the new iPads explains the pricing adjustment. These new screens will offer users greater contrast, higher brightness, deeper blacks, and improved viewing angles. The majority of OLED panels will be sourced from LG Display with the remaining 40% coming from Samsung Display.
It’s important to note that the current version of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro features a mini-LED display which reduces screen burn-in and offers better contrast and brightness similar to OLED panels. In contrast, the current 11-inch version uses an LCD display.
In addition to display improvements, the new iPad Pro tablets are expected to be powered by Apple’s 3nm M3 chip. There is also speculation about MagSafe charging being added for the first time on Apple’s premium iPad units along with a redesigned Magic Keyboard accessory that makes an iPad Pro look more like a laptop computer than a tablet.
Overall, these anticipated updates are sure to excite Apple fans eagerly awaiting the next generation of iPad Pro devices with enhanced features and performance capabilities.
