Enhanced Traffic Reporting on Waze’s iOS and Android Apps Revolutionizes Commuting Experience

Waze, acquired by Google in 2013, is a crowd-sourced navigation app that focuses on getting users from point “A” to point “B.” On the other hand, Google Maps not only provides quick and safe navigation but also offers recommendations for dining, accommodations, and entertainment at the destination.

According to 9to5Google, the latest update to Waze for iOS and Android introduces a new round orange hazard icon in the lower right corner. Tapping this icon takes users to a screen where they can report various conditions affecting their journey. These include traffic conditions like heavy or standstill traffic, hidden police presence, crashes such as pile-ups or on the other side of the road, hazards like construction or objects on the road, bad weather conditions like slippery roads or fog, blocked lanes in different positions on the road, map issues, gas prices, roadside help, map chat, and places.

In addition to these updates, Waze has removed some traffic conditions such as roadkill from its app. However, there is now an option under “Hazard” for reporting a car on the shoulder of the road.

The update is currently rolling out to both iOS and Android versions of Waze.
