Exciting News: Google Meet Add-Ons Now Available for Android Phones in Canada!

We are excited to share that Google has recently announced the arrival of Meet add-ons for Android phones and tablets. This update allows Android users to conveniently install and utilize both third-party and first-party apps directly within the Meet app.

Here are some key points to keep in mind about the new Meet add-ons for Android:

– Meet add-ons can be found in the Activities panel, alongside features like polls and Q&A.
– Desktop add-ons that are not compatible with mobile devices will be labeled as “Unavailable” on Android.
– The visibility of all add-ons is managed through a dedicated setting, with separate toggles for Google add-ons and featured third-party add-ons.
– Admins can review and adjust these settings by navigating to Apps / Google Workspace / Settings for Google Meet / Meet video settings.

It is worth noting that the setting controls the availability of add-ons on both desktop and Android platforms. Therefore, how the setting is configured will determine which add-ons users can access.

If you are an end user, no action is required on your part. Your admin will need to configure your experience, which may impact your ability to use add-ons in Google Meet on your Android device.

Google has started rolling out this feature, with an expected completion timeline of up to two weeks for all users. However, users in “Scheduled Release domains” may have to wait until June 24-27 to access this feature. Rest assured, Google Workspace customers should have access to add-ons once the rollout is complete.

Stay tuned for more updates as this exciting feature becomes available to enhance your Google Meet experience on Android devices!
