Instagram introduces new feature allowing users to add song lyrics to their Reels

Instagram’s “Reels” feature has received a boost with the addition of song lyrics during the editing process. This update brings Reels in line with the existing capability on Instagram Stories. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new feature through the app’s IG Updates and Meta channels. They observed that users were manually adding lyrics to Reels, prompting the introduction of this streamlined feature.

To add song lyrics to your Instagram Reels, simply tap on the music button while editing, choose a song, and swipe left to add the lyrics. The process is straightforward and accessible to all users.

While song lyrics have long been available on Instagram Stories, the delay in bringing this feature to Reels remains unexplained. Reels and Stories differ in that Reels are public, while Stories are limited to followers. Although feature parity has not been achieved between the two formats, Instagram continues to enhance Reels to keep up with competition from platforms like TikTok.

Instagram has recently launched additional tools to facilitate Reels creation, including improved templates and a template browser organized by categories such as Recommended, Trending, and Saved. This browser assists users in finding the most suitable template for their content.

Further updates for Reels are expected in the coming weeks. Instagram plans to introduce features such as automatic addition of text and transitions from previous Reels. Stay tuned for more exciting developments from Instagram as they expand Reels’ creative capabilities.
