The iPad won’t receive this personal iOS 17 feature until next year.

Introducing the Journal App on iOS 17.2 Beta

With the recent release of the Vision Pro, it’s easy to overlook the other announcements from Apple’s WWDC event earlier this year. One of those announcements was the introduction of a new Journal app on iOS 17. This app serves as a digital daily diary, allowing users to record their activities and memories in a new and innovative way.

However, it appears that the Journal app is currently exclusive to iPhone devices and is not available for iPads or Mac systems. Users who have installed the iPadOS 17.2 beta or macOS 14.2 beta have noticed the absence of the Journal app on their devices. Upon further investigation, it has been found that the Journal app is currently only compatible with iPhone devices running iOS 17.2. There is no indication that it will be made available for other devices in the near future, with speculations suggesting that it may be integrated into iPadOS 18 and macOS 15 next year.

This aligns with the information provided by Apple themselves, as only the iOS 17 webpage mentions the existence of the Journal app. There is no mention of the app on the iPadOS 17 and macOS Sonoma web pages.

More about Journal

Journal is a new iPhone app designed to help users reflect on everyday moments and special events in their lives. It offers personalized suggestions based on a user’s recent activities, such as photos, people, places, workouts, and more. Users can also set scheduled notifications to promote regular journaling habits.

If privacy is a concern, Apple has addressed this by including an option to lock the app. By utilizing on-device processing and end-to-end encryption, Journal ensures that a user’s entries are kept private and inaccessible to anyone, including Apple.
