Europe sees HMD’s inaugural 5G Nokia phone launch

HMD, the company behind Nokia phones, has announced that it will now manufacture 5G smartphones in Europe. This move makes HMD the first major global smartphone manufacturer to bring manufacturing to Europe.

Previously, HMD manufactured all Nokia-branded smartphones in Asia to keep the devices competitive price-wise due to the availability of cheap labor. However, with the decision to manufacture in Europe, HMD is looking to enhance security, technology, and manufacturing processes.

The first 5G smartphone to be manufactured in Europe is the Nokia XR21. This rugged device is already available for purchase by Enterprise customers. HMD is dedicated to investing in security and technology advancements that make their devices more secure and long-lasting.

To celebrate this significant milestone, HMD is releasing 30 limited edition Nokia XR21 smartphones in an exclusive Frosted Platinum color. Each device is engraved with a unique serial number and comes with a certificate of origin, confirming it is made in Europe. These limited edition smartphones can be purchased through Nokia’s online shop.

The Nokia XR21 Limited Edition in the exclusive Frosted Platinum color is available for €700 (£600) in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Finland. Additionally, the Nokia XR21 European Edition in Black will be available for purchase from €650 (£550) in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Finland.

With this move, HMD aims to not only provide high-quality smartphones to consumers but also contribute to the European manufacturing industry. Customer can now enjoy the benefits of a European made Nokia 5G smartphone.
