The OnePlus 12 is set to be revealed in China on December 4th, a week from Monday. There are some interesting changes including moving the popular Alert Slider from the right side of the phone to the left side. This move was made to accommodate improved gaming performance with the addition of a new integrated antenna.
OnePlus stated, “Based on internal testing, it has been determined that the optimal position for gaming antennas is between the forefingers of the user when the phone is held in landscape orientation.” By relocating the Alert Slider to the opposite side of the phone, better gaming antennas can be deployed on the OnePlus 12. According to the lab test data by OnePlus, the gaming antenna signal can be improved by 3dB, with the game latency reduced by 15%.
The OnePlus 12 will have a glass body and the color options of the device will be Pale Green, Rock Black, and White.
Furthermore, it is expected that the OnePlus 12 will feature a 6.82-inch OLED display from China’s BOE with 2k resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 application processor (AP), with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The rear camera array should include a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 64MP periscope camera with 3x optical zoom. The device will also have a large 5400mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The OnePlus 12 could be released in the U.S. during the first quarter of 2024. If the device performs as well as its specs suggest, the OnePlus 12 should be in the running to be the top Android phone of 2024.
