Streamlining Your Apple Experience: iTunes for Windows Now Split into 3 Apps • iPhone in Canada Blog

Apple has recently made a significant change for iTunes users on Windows 10 and later, breaking up the traditional iTunes for Windows into three distinct apps: the Apple Music app, Apple TV app, and Apple Devices app. This move is designed to enhance user experience by providing dedicated platforms for music, video content, and device management.

Here’s a closer look at what each of these new apps offers:

– The Apple Music app allows users to listen to and manage music from their iTunes library, including purchases from the iTunes Store.
– Similarly, the Apple TV app focuses on providing access to movies and TV shows, including purchases and rentals from the iTunes Store.
– The Apple Devices app is specifically designed for managing Apple devices, offering options to manually update, back up, restore, and sync content from a PC to an iPhone or iPad.

These changes reflect Apple’s commitment to modernizing and simplifying its software offerings. To access the new apps, users will need Windows 10 or later. Those with PCs that do not support the new apps can continue using the legacy iTunes for Windows.

It’s important to note that downloading all three new apps is necessary to fully replace iTunes’ functionality. If only one app is initially downloaded, iTunes will prompt users to download the other two. After transitioning to the new apps, iTunes will only provide access to podcasts and audiobooks while redirecting music and video content management to the Apple Music and Apple TV apps respectively.

Apple advises users not to delete their iTunes library as both the Apple Music and Apple TV apps will utilize this data. Additionally, users must authorize their computer with their Apple ID in order to access their iTunes Store purchases in the new apps.

For Mac users, standalone apps for Apple Music and Apple TV are already available. However, it’s worth noting that some users find the current version of the Apple Music app bloated and in need of a rewrite from scratch.

If you’re ready to explore these new applications on your Windows device, you can find download links for each of them in Microsoft Store.
