The Reasons for Increasing Prices on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025

Per industry reports, the Galaxy S24 Ultra pricing is expected to remain the same as its predecessor. There are no indications that Samsung plans to increase the price of its flagship phone, so it is anticipated that the device will have a starting price of $1,199. However, it is speculated that the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which will be launched the following year, may have a higher starting price. This is attributed to the inclusion of the Oryon CPU cores from the Snapdragon X Elite PC chip into the Snapdragon Mobile Platform chips in 2025.

According to Qualcomm Senior Vice President Chris Patrick, the custom CPU cores can enhance the chipset’s performance, power consumption, and pricing without necessarily raising the cost. Nonetheless, Qualcomm has plans to increase the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset to achieve exceptional levels of performance.

In order to prevent Qualcomm from exercising excessive pricing power (remember, their motto is ‘no license, no chips’), Samsung continues to develop its own Exynos chipsets as an alternative. The Exynos 2400, with its robust deca-core configuration, has shown impressive benchmark results. It is anticipated that Samsung will utilize the Exynos 2400 SoC for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in most markets. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset across all regions. In the United States and China, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will also be used for the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+.

Despite these considerations, Samsung will have to confront the challenge of higher-priced chipsets for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which could potentially result in increased costs and a decline in profit margin. To mitigate this, the company could opt for lower-priced components, such as a homegrown Exynos SoC, or decide to raise the price of its flagship phone in 2025. A similar pricing scenario might also apply to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025, leading to potential price hikes from their current starting prices of $1,799 and $799 respectively.

If you plan on purchasing the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 7, or Galaxy Z Flip 7 in 2025, it might be wise to start saving up now. Stay tuned for future updates on pricing and features.
