Unlocking Pixel’s Emergency Satellite Feature: Android 15 Beta Update Breakdown

Google’s latest Android 15 beta release contains exciting hidden strings of code hinting at a new feature called Pixel Satellite SOS. Here are some key details to know about this upcoming service:

– Pixel users can enjoy the Satellite SOS feature for free for two years, according to the code.
– To access this feature, Google Messages must be set as your default SMS app.
– In case of an emergency, users will need to provide essential information via text, including their name, email, phone number, location, device details, and emergency contact information.

Another intriguing code string reveals that older Pixel models will receive an update to support satellite communication. This means that even if you don’t own the latest Pixel 9 series with Android 15 pre-installed, you may still be able to utilize the Satellite SOS feature through a software update.

Apple introduced a similar Emergency SOS via satellite feature with the iPhone 14 series in 2022. Initially offering two years of free service, Apple recently extended it for another year. However, starting September 2025, this service will no longer be free for iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series users.

Stay tuned for more updates on August 13th when Google is set to reveal all the details about the Pixel Satellite Service alongside the new Pixel 9 handsets. Exciting times ahead for Pixel users!
