Samsung ventures into the mobile gaming realm to bolster revenue

Samsung is actively seeking new business opportunities to diversify its revenue streams after a slowdown in the smartphone market. One area that the South Korean company believes has untapped potential for long-term profitability is gaming.

According to reports, Samsung is set to unveil its very own cloud gaming platform on October 5th. Unlike existing services like NVIDIA and Microsoft, Samsung’s platform will focus exclusively on smartphones, at least in the initial phase.

What sets Samsung’s cloud gaming platform apart is its ability to eliminate the need for downloading or installing games directly onto smartphones. This unique feature is likely to disrupt the market and raise eyebrows from competitors such as Google and Apple.

Currently, Samsung is engaged in discussions with various game developers to secure titles for its upcoming cloud gaming platform. While details about potential subscription fees remain unknown, sources suggest that Samsung will not charge Galaxy users to play games on its platform.

It is unclear whether the gaming platform will be exclusively available on Galaxy devices or if Samsung intends to make it accessible to all smartphone and tablet users. The company is eyeing this venture as an opportunity to bolster revenue by leveraging its vast user base of approximately 1 billion Galaxy smartphones.
