Discover Sonos’ Latest Web and App Innovations as Desktop Apps Phase Out • iPhones Canada News

We are thrilled to announce that Sonos is launching a revamped mobile app, set to revolutionize the way you enjoy music in your home. This exciting update combines services, content, and system controls into a sleek and customizable home screen, providing easy access to over 100 streaming services, playlists, stations, and albums. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Sonos app:

– The redesigned app will be available for download globally on May 7 and will support all S2 products.
– Sonos CEO, Patrick Spence, expressed excitement about the updated app, stating that it raises the bar for home music listening experiences.
– The new features include a streamlined home screen with customizable content rows, a universal search function across all streaming libraries, and enhanced system control with intuitive gestures.
– A web app will also be introduced for users to manage their Sonos system from any modern web browser.
– Existing desktop apps like the Sonos app on Mac will be phased out later this year in favor of the web controller.

The new Sonos app offers a cleaner look with faster access to speaker controls and search functions. Tabs have been replaced by a more user-friendly interface in both light and dark modes. Key features include redesigned search options, personalized music provider settings, and quick access to speaker controls.

Director of Product Management at Sonos, Tucker Severson, highlighted that the new app was built from scratch with a focus on user convenience and personalization. The company aims to evolve rapidly and provide customers with seamless control over their systems.

While Live Activities support is not currently available in the new app, Sonos is considering adding it in the future. Additionally, there are no plans for a native Apple Watch app at this time.

The upcoming web app will replace all existing desktop apps later this year but promises lightweight usage with minimal impact on memory and CPU resources. Chief Product Officer of Sonos emphasized the brand’s commitment to simplifying streaming experiences by offering extensive choices in one convenient location.

We can’t wait for you to experience the enhanced features of the new Sonos app when it launches on May 7. Stay tuned for an exciting music listening experience right at your fingertips!
