Threads, the popular social media platform, is currently testing a new feature that allows select users to hide old posts. This exciting development will enable users to archive a selection of older posts and keep them hidden from the public eye.

Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, recently announced the arrival of this archival feature. Currently, only a “small number” of users have access to this feature, with plans to expand its availability in the future. The goal is to allow users to archive individual posts or automatically archive them after a set period of time.

Once the feature is activated, users can easily hide posts by tapping on the three-dot menu option at the top right corner of a post. By selecting ‘Archive now,’ the post will be hidden from public view. This user-friendly feature is reminiscent of Instagram’s existing option to archive and conceal content.

But don’t worry! Mosseri reassures users that any archived post can be made public again with just a few clicks. This flexibility ensures that users have full control over their content. Additionally, this feature will not be set as default on Threads, as feedback from users has indicated a preference for it to remain optional.

At present, there is no specific timeline for when Threads will make this feature available to a wider user base. However, the demand for post archiving has been high among Threads and other platforms like X (formerly Twitter). With Threads gradually introducing this capability, it raises speculation about whether X will follow suit in the future.
