Enhanced Android Integration: Seamlessly Share Calls, Hotspots, and More Across Devices

Google is making strides in creating an ecosystem that rivals Apple’s, allowing seamless integration between Android phones and Chromebooks. This means users with multiple Android devices can look forward to sharing internet access, notifications, and messaging apps through screen streaming. The good news is that Google’s cross-device services make it easy to transfer data across your devices, including Chromebooks and potentially Android phones and tablets.

An Android expert going by the name AssembleDebug (via Android Police) discovered hidden flags that indicate tighter integration for Android devices. The setup includes a new screen that sheds light on potential features like Call Cast, Wifi Sharing, and Hotspot Sharing.

Here’s a breakdown of what this means for users:

– Linking devices signed in to your Google Account allows for seamless sharing of Wi-Fi passwords, hotspots, and even moving video calls between devices.
– To prevent unintentional linking, manual confirmation is required for device groupings. You can also opt out of receiving invitations during the process.
– Toggles in the setup give you control over shared features and the ability to remove individual devices from the group.

While the cross-device services interface is currently accessible with developer flags, an official announcement and widespread rollout are still pending. However, given the successful demonstrations and near completion of the interface, Google may unveil cross-device services soon—possibly as part of the March Feature Drop coming to eligible Pixel models. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
