Garmin set to introduce heart rate monitor designed for women that can be attached to sports bras

Garmin has announced a new product targeted specifically at women, the HRM-Fit heart rate monitor. This device attaches directly to medium and high-support sports bras, providing more accurate heart rate and training data in real time.

The HRM-Fit heart rate monitor is designed to be used during a variety of activities, including running, indoor and outdoor cycling, strength training, and HIIT workouts. It transmits all tracked data to compatible Garmin smartwatches and Edge cycling computers, as well as compatible fitness equipment and the Tacx Training app.

Garmin’s Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing, Susan Lyman, remarked, “Designed with comfort in mind, the HRM-Fit is a purpose-built training tool specifically created for our female customers. Whether you’re going for a run or taking a HIIT class, it easily attaches to the bottom band of a sports bra and provides accurate heart rate and training data to help you know your body better by tracking the ways you move.”

If the compatible smartwatch is out of range, the HRM-Fit can store workout data and send it to the watch once it’s back in range. This means users don’t have to wear their smartwatch during exercises; the HRM-Fit captures steps, calories burned, intensity minutes, and all-day heart rate, and then transmits all the data to the smartwatch when in range. It can also update all compatible Garmin devices via the Garmin Connect smartphone app.

According to Garmin, the HRM-Fit heart rate monitor offers up to one year of battery life and will retail for $150.
