Introducing Wi-Fi 7: Enjoy Five Times Faster Transfer Speeds and Reduced Interference

The Wi-Fi Alliance recently unveiled Wi-Fi 7, which promises faster transfer speeds and lower latency. Compared to the current Wi-Fi 6E standard, Wi-Fi 7 brings a significant performance boost.

Wi-Fi 6E has a maximum transfer speed of 9Gbps, while Wi-Fi 7 supports a maximum transfer speed of up to 46Gbps, making it five times faster than Wi-Fi 6E. In addition, Wi-Fi 7 will double the channel size in countries where Wi-Fi has access to the 6GHz band, allowing for more traffic support and less interference. With 4K QAM, Wi-Fi 7 transmissions carry 20% more bits than the current 1024 QAM used with Wi-Fi 6E, allowing for more data to be transmitted at one time.

According to Kevin Robinson, president and CEO of Wi-Fi Alliance, the introduction of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 7 marks the emergence of the latest generation of Wi-Fi and will accelerate mass adoption of Wi-Fi 7. This certification underscores the commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology that provides faster speeds, improved efficiency, and increased reliability, expanding the possibilities of Wi-Fi.

While it will take some time for smartphones to support the new Wi-Fi standard, it is expected that the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the first Apple devices to work with Wi-Fi 7 in 2024. Additionally, devices like our Vision Pro will benefit from the capabilities of Wi-Fi 7, particularly for mixed reality experiences.

Overall, Wi-Fi 7 promises to revolutionize wireless connectivity with its faster speeds and improved efficiency, opening up new possibilities for devices like our Vision Pro.
