T-Mobile Goes Back on Promise Not to Raise Prices

Recently, it was reported that T-Mobile would be increasing their Home Internet prices for new customers. This change comes with a new version of the Price Lock guarantee for new customers, which does not offer the same level of protection as the previous guarantee. Instead of guaranteeing no price hikes as long as customers do not make changes to their plan, the new version only promises to cover the final month of service if a customer decides to cancel after a price increase.

The new Price Lock commitment represents a significant step down from the previous guarantee, which locked prices for existing customers who stayed with their original plan. This new guarantee will apply to those who add new lines or make changes to their current plan or switch to an ineligible plan on or after January 18.

If you are not planning on making changes to your current plan, T-Mobile will honor the previous Price Lock promise. However, if you anticipate opening a new account or adding new lines in the future, it may be beneficial to do so before the current Price Lock pledge is phased out.
