Apple Retires Classic iPhone Model – What This Means for You!

Apple has recently added the iPhone 6 Plus to its list of obsolete products, marking the end of an era for the “phablet” legend with its 5.5-inch display. While this device may now seem small compared to modern smartphones, it was a giant leap in screen size back in 2014.

Here is an overview of some other iPhone products that have been deemed obsolete worldwide:

– iPhone
– iPhone 3G (China mainland) 8GB
– iPhone 3G 8GB, 16GB
– iPhone 3GS (China mainland) 16GB, 32GB
– iPhone 3GS (8GB)
– iPhone 3GS 16GB, 32GB
– iPhone 4 CDMA
– iPhone 4 CDMA (8GB)
– iPhone 4 16GB, 32GB
– iPhone 4 GSM (8GB), Black
– iPhone 4S
– iPhone 4S (8GB)
– iPhone 5C

When Apple designates a product as obsolete, it means that they have discontinued distributing it for sale more than seven years ago. This also means that all hardware service for these products is discontinued, and service providers cannot order parts for them. However, Mac laptops may still be eligible for an extended battery-only repair period for up to ten years from their last distribution date.

But the iPhone 6 Plus is not the only device facing this fate. The iPad Mini 4 has also been classified as “vintage”, marking a step above being considered obsolete by Apple.

Products fall into the vintage category when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than five years ago but less than seven years ago. Some other devices in this category include the iPhone SE, the iPhone Red series (iPhone SE, iPhone Red, and iPhone Red Plus), and several older models like the iPhones from the series ranging from the series of iPhones from SE through to SE Plus.

As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, it’s essential to stay updated on which devices are still supported by manufacturers like Apple. If you’re looking to upgrade your smartphone or tablet, be sure to check if your current device is still receiving software updates and support to ensure you have a seamless user experience moving forward.
