iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Galaxy S24 Ultra: Ultimate Durability Showdown!

The battle between the titanic titanium Galaxy S24 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max has been a hot topic, but here’s something different: a drop test.

When it comes to phone durability, luck is often the deciding factor. “Fragile” phones have survived epic abuse, while “tough” devices have cracked after a benign fall. A video by the PhoneBuff YouTube channel shows what happens when you put the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Galaxy S24 Ultra to the test in a drop test (via Gizmochina).

Both the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are built with titanium inside, but the Galaxy S24 Ultra also features Gorilla Armor glass for improved durability compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Here’s how they fared in each round of the drop test:

Round 1: Flat Back Drop
– Both phones suffered damage to their glass back panels, with more visible damage on the S24 Ultra. The camera lenses also took a hit, and according to the host, this round goes to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Round 2: Corner Drop
– Both flagships got minor dents, but the iPhone started losing some glass. This round ended in a draw.

Round 3: Face Drop
– When dropped flat on their fronts on a concrete floor, the S24 Ultra suffered more damage to its screen with cracks, compromising the functionality of its selfie camera and fingerprint scanner. On the other hand, things worked as normal for the iPhone. A clear win for Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Round 4: Repeated Face-down Drops
– Despite being repeatedly dropped face-down on a metal surface, the Galaxy S24 Ultra remained functional. The iPhone suffered badly and eventually got a vertical line on its screen followed by going plain white after multiple drops.

The PhoneBuff test awarded an impressive overall score of 37 points to Galaxy S24 Ultra, narrowly surpassing iPhone 15 Pro Max’s score of 36 points. While iPhone 15 Pro Max excelled in three initial rounds with a perfect score of 10 out of 10 each time, it faltered only in the fourth and final round.

In conclusion, both phones proved their durability in different ways throughout this intense drop test. If you’re torn between these two flagship devices when it comes to durability concerns – rest assured that both are solid choices!
