Meta AI Integration Coming to Next-Gen Snapdragon Phones in Canada!

Are you in the market for your next Android flagship phone, or perhaps considering making the switch from an iPhone? Chances are, your next device may come equipped with a Snapdragon chipset from Qualcomm, a leading semiconductor company. And in the near future, those opting for a Snapdragon-powered device could benefit from Meta’s latest AI model, Llama 3.

Meta recently introduced the Llama 3 model as part of their new AI assistant available on platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger in select countries worldwide. This advanced AI model boasts impressive reasoning skills and enhanced ability to follow instructions.

Exciting news came when Qualcomm and Meta announced a partnership to optimize the implementation of Meta’s Llama 3 directly on smartphones, PCs, VR/AR headsets, vehicles, and more. This collaboration will allow the new AI model to run seamlessly on devices, delivering improved responsiveness, enhanced privacy features, reliability, and personalized experiences for users.

Durga Malladi, Qualcomm’s senior vice president and general manager of technology, planning and edge solutions expressed enthusiasm about Meta’s open approach with Llama 3. The collaboration aims to democratize access to generative AI capabilities by enabling OEMs and developers to integrate Llama 3 into devices powered by upcoming flagship Snapdragon platforms. Developers will have access to resources and tools through the Qualcomm AI Hub to optimize Llama 3 on Snapdragon platforms with approximately 100 optimized AI models available.

On another front, while Android flagships are gearing up to incorporate Meta’s AI model through future Snapdragon chips, there are talks that upcoming iPhones may receive an AI boost from Google. Apple is reportedly in discussions with Google to license its Gemini AI technology to enhance Siri functionality and introduce new AI features in iOS 18 set for unveiling in June 2024.

Negotiations between Apple and Google have progressed positively; however, any agreement involving Gemini would likely require approval from regulatory agencies due to ongoing investigations into their existing partnership. Apple currently uses Google as the default search engine on Safari and reportedly receives nearly $20 billion annually as part of this arrangement.

Exciting times lie ahead as cutting-edge technologies like advanced AI models continue to shape the landscape of mobile devices. Stay tuned for more updates as these innovations unfold!
