WARNING: T-Mobile users beware of this scam that could drain your wallet fast!

Recently, a T-Mobile subscriber shared a scam call experience that could have tricked other subscribers of the carrier. The incident started with an incoming call from what appeared to be a legitimate T-Mobile number (1-800-375-1126). Let’s dive into the details:

– The subscriber, known as Redditor mgahs, initially ignored two calls from this number before deciding to answer the third call during a family movie night.
– The caller claimed that two iPhone 15 Pro Max phones were ordered on the subscriber’s account, with a billing address change. This raised immediate suspicion for several reasons:
1. Multiple consecutive calls from the same number.
2. No prior notifications about phone orders on the account.
3. Strange request to change billing address for phone orders.

Upon realizing the scam, our hero took quick action:
– The scammer insisted on resetting the account password by sending a text message requesting confirmation.
– The subscriber had already reset the password in advance but played along to gather more evidence.
– A fake T-Mobile message asked for a code confirmation, contradicting real security protocols.
– Despite receiving a code, the subscriber provided a fake one and immediately blocked the number.

The lesson learned:
– Always trust your instincts and don’t hesitate to contact your carrier (like dialing 611) if something seems suspicious.
– Be cautious of unexpected calls or messages asking for personal information or verification codes.

In this case, our quick-thinking subscriber avoided potential financial loss by staying alert and seeking assistance from T-Mobile’s official customer service. Remember, it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to protecting your personal information and accounts. Stay vigilant and don’t fall for scams that could compromise your security.
