Apple and Google have joined forces to address concerns about unwanted tracking, particularly with devices like AirTags being used for stalking. It appears that Apple is now preparing to introduce new anti-stalking features with the upcoming iOS 17.5 update.

In the latest beta release of iOS 17.5, code has been discovered by 9to5Mac hinting at the expansion of anti-stalking features for AirTags and other tracking devices. This includes a new warning that may appear in the Find My app. Additionally, iOS seems to be able to detect these tracking accessories, even if they are not Apple or Find My certified, and assist users in disabling them if necessary.

While the feature is not yet active for beta users, this discovery suggests that it may be included in the official release of iOS 17.5. However, there is no guarantee that it will be available at launch.

Given the concerns surrounding AirTag stalking, it is possible that Apple may delay announcing this feature until the expected release of AirTags 2, which is predicted to occur in 2025.

With Apple potentially introducing unwanted tracker detection on iOS, Android users may finally see Google’s long-awaited Find My Device network. Google had postponed launching its network until Apple introduced similar features on iOS.
