Samsung’s Galaxy A72 makes history as the first phone to receive Android 14 in 2024

Samsung has begun rolling out the Android 14 update for its Galaxy A72 smartphone, making it the first device to receive the major update in 2024. The Galaxy A72, released in 2021, is now on its third major Android OS update, and it is likely that Android 14 will be the last major update for this phone.

While the update is currently only available for Galaxy A72 owners in Russia, it is expected to be rolled out to other regions in the coming weeks. If you have successfully upgraded your Galaxy A72 to Android 14 in a different country, feel free to share your experience in the comments section.

In addition to the Android 14 update, Samsung has also included the December 2023 security patch. This comprehensive update requires at least 2GB of free storage for download and installation. Even if you are not in Russia, it is advisable to check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Regardless of whether Android 14 will be the final major OS update for the Galaxy A72, Samsung will continue to provide security updates for the device for a few more years.
